How it Works:
Place the BRAZIL on a flat surface, hold the handle firmly, and pull the plunger up and out of the carafe. Add one rounded teaspoon or Bodum scoop of coarsely ground coffee for each cup/4oz water. Pour hot water into the carafe (about 92-96C), leaving a minimum of 2.5cm/1 inch at the top, and stir with a plastic or wooden spoon. Place the plunger unit on top of the pot and turn the lid so the pour spout is closed to retain the heat. Leave four minutes to brew, then slowly lower the plunger. Turn the lid to open the pour spout and pour your delicious cup of joe.
Use & Care:
Wash in warm, soapy water before first use and dry thoroughly. All parts are dishwasher-safe.
FAQs:
Q: What coffee beans should I use with my French press?
A: A medium to coarse grind is ideal for French press coffee. This grind size allows the coffee to fully extract its flavour without creating too much sediment. Look for beans with rich, bold flavours like Brazilian or Colombian.
Q: How long should I steep my French press coffee?
A: The optimal steeping time for French press coffee is 4 minutes. Steeping for longer can produce a bitter taste, while steeping for shorter may not extract enough flavour.
Q: How can I reduce sediment in my French press coffee?
A: While some sediment is inevitable with French press coffee, here are a few tips to minimize it:
- Use the right grind size: A coarse grind will help reduce sediment.
- Don’t over-stir: Stirring too much can break up the coffee grounds, leading to more sediment.
- Press slowly and evenly: Pressing too quickly or unevenly can cause sediment.
- Clean your French press regularly: Regular cleaning will help prevent the coffee grounds and oils buildup.
